Let’s go over some details about artwork for screen printing & embroidery!
All things printed start with a great design, created specifically for screen printing. Around the shop we say “What you see, is how it will print”, meaning the original artwork has to be of high quality in order to reproduce it properly. We recommend to hire a graphic artist or designer to do this for you. We also have an art department that can create “Print Ready” artwork for you at a reasonable price.
Let’s jump right into what “Print Ready” artwork is, how to submit artwork, and what type of files to send us for your project.
We accept PDF, PSD, AI, GIF, PNG, and JPEG file formats with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI.
While there is no formula for sizing your artwork, and no standard print size, we always recommend to print your image out on a sheet of paper, cut it out, and lay it down on your favorite garment. This will help you figure out what size the image should be printed at. Remember that the image will look different on different sizes.
If you have type or styled fonts in your design, you will need to either Rasterize the type (for bitmap images), or Convert type to Outlines (for vector images). More often than not, our design software will not have the same fonts installed as your designer has when creating the image.
